My Two Cents: Pokemon Go and Uber Driver

Dear blog,

There is this streamer, Alex Ramirex, he streams this game called Pokemon GO. He also an Uber driver. So, apparently (no official reports came out yet), one night he witnessed a murder while streaming AND being online on Uber. The next morning, he got banned from Uber because lots of trolls and mindless emails were sent to Uber customer service and false reporting Alex for murder, hitting other people on the job, and bunch of mindless reporting. Because of people falsely reporting to Uber made Alex lose his job.

But here’s my two cents about this….

Alex deserved to be fired.

Alex made himself vunerable to the internet. He is open for criticism, open for trolls, open to ANYTHING. He was playing Pokemon GO while on the job. While he’s online. He streams games while he’s on the job…. So a lot of people trolled him like how everyone likes to do these days: report false information about Alex to Uber. He made himself vulnerable. He made himself a nuisance to a company. He deserved to be fired.

He later posted this image on his twitter account, showing how much he earned during one week:

@AlexRamiGaming twitter post

So, he was online for 101 hrs for one week, completed 39 trips, and earned $417.08 for doing so. This frustrated me the most. I thought he had a family to support. I thought he had to work hard to get his wife and kid over to America. BUT he is so inefficient in using his time that he plays games on the side while being online on Uber. He just waits till someone requests a ride, instead of being actively on a lookout for requests.

I know people would say “Oh, sheep, you’re so heartless and stupid, why would you ever think like that?” or “you idiot, you don’t know what it’s like to support a family!”
True. I don’t, because I don’t have a wife, kids, or a family that I take care of. BUT I know many hardworking people who gets up and grinds all day to support their families. They don’t spend their time inefficiently like Alex and play games/stream games on the side on the job. He should do those things on the side. Job is a job. Hobbies shouldn’t be mixed with your job.

Alex deserved it. He should find another job and try to keep that job, and put his hobbies on the side.

But that’s my two cents on it. I’m sorry for Alex losing his job, but he shouldn’t be doing his hobbies while on the job.

With love,

My First Stream

Dear Blog,

I ran my first streams today. As it turns out, it lags a lot. It lags my gameplay and it lags my stream. I don’t think I can stream much without having a graphics card installed into my motherboard. I tried using the old (used to be expensive) graphics card, EVGA 8800GTS 320MB, but it doesn’t work well with my HD monitor.

It worked well on my 1240 x 1080 monitor. I haven’t streamed it yet because it asked me to install another driver for the graphics card. I was too lazy to move around more, so I just took it out and decided that I am going to buy a legit, up to date, graphics card. I just got to look for the right one.

I hope I would get it going soon, set up a mic, and several other things. I’m preparing something I’m going to start with a friend. About a month ago, remember I told you about a friend that I was going to do a project with? He was busy with his service at the military for the past couple of months. Also, he has some family problems going on, so I didn’t really push him to start the project.

Anyways, the weather is getting brighter, warmer, and easier to run outside. I’m going to start running again. For the past month, the only exercise I was getting was Monday night basketball. I still need to get new shoes: running shoes and basketball shoes. I’ve been looking up for some shoes, and my gosh, I want these two kicks really badly:

freeruns superfly3

Nike Free 5.0 Flash, and the Jordan Super.Fly 3. Those looks nice. I wouldn’t mind getting the Air Jordan 1 Retros.

Sigh.

One day.

Nice Neighbors

Dear blog,

It snowed a lot this morning. Like a lot as in 4 inches. It didn’t snow like this in this past winter. Well it snowed like a week ago, but it probably only came like 0.1 inches high. It reminded me of that short story I wrote like not too long ago.

My parents were trying to go out to do shopping in the morning, but the snow shovelers did such a poor job shoveling snow. I threw on my beanie, my sweater, grabbed my mittens, and took the snow shovel next to the door, and went out to clean up the walk way to the car. I kept shoveling through the path to the only car we have. I made a path to the side of the car, and shoveled the snow behind the car so the car can get out easily. The shoveling got a lot harder as time went by because it started to drizzle, not snow.

I looked at my next door neighbor’s walk way, and they haven’t shoveled the snow on their walkway yet. My parents went up to me as I was working and told me I should go help shovel the walk way for my old neighbors. They usually shovel snow early in the morning, but they could not because the old man broke his ankle. The other old neighbor bruised his wrist so he couldn’t shovel the snow. So, me and my dad helped them clear out their walkway, brush snow off their car, and clear the snow that was blocking their car.

One of the old man came up to me and thanked me. Then he asked what I have been up to. I told him what I usually tell my friends and other people: unemployed, looking for a job near home, and roll around the house. (Well I only tell my friends that I do nothing but roll around the house. I didn’t say I roll around the house to my neighbors, of course. That’s pretty embarrassing)

The old man looked at me and said, “You look bright, nice, and you look like you work hard. Why don’t you give me your resume and I’ll put in a good word for you for [Some Company]. You can work near home!”

When I heard that, I thought that this might be it. This might be the break I was looking for. So I thanked the old man and went back home.

This is my plan for today, I will give this old man my resume (with apple pie or some pie on the side) and present him my resume, thank him again, and go back home to relax. I’m already feeling relaxed right now. I better quickly review my resume, update it if needed, and go out and buy a pie or something.

Wish me luck, blog. Hopefully, I’ll get the job.

Fat Acceptance Movement…?

Dear blog,

While I was browsing through the web, I came across this article one of my peers shared. It was about an Alabama State Professor contributing a chapter to a book called, “Black Women in Fat Activism.”

What???? Black? Women? Fat? Activists?

That book title itself sounds ridiculous. What sounds even more ridiculous is that there was a movement called the Fat Acceptance Movement.

What???

So what is their main goal? What is the purpose of having this movement?
Apparently, the people in this movement argue that fat people are the big (pun intended harhar) targets of hatred and discrimination. Particularly fat females are bigger (pun intended again) targets than fat males in society.

Wikipedia gives a better, detailed explanation what the movement is all about. If you read through it, there is this part where it says, “Fat acceptance organizations engage in public education about what they describe as myths concerning fat people.” I kept laughing over this part. “Myths concerning fat people.” I’m not exactly sure how to put this. It’s funny and sad.

To put this straight, I have nothing against fat people. I mean I guess I tease them, but I don’t go over the board and say “Go kill yourself for being so fat.” That’s rude. And that’s pretty messed up. When I typed that up, that quote sounded really messed up. But when things like this article, the “Black Women in Fat Activism” book, this fat acceptance movement sort of makes sense to make fun of them.

Well, first of all, it is not healthy to be fat. Yes, that is a huge (pun intended. I’ll stop) fact (Duh). You can’t always go eat whatever you want, whenever you want, wherever you want. If you have too much of certain things, like eating too much french toasts or adding syrup to everything food you consume, then of course you get fat. You won’t be able to walk. You would probably depend on an electric wheel chair to take you around. You would probably depend on someone else to feed you, to clean you up. There are so many things that can go wrong with people getting so fat.

Also, what myths can you bust about fat people? What result do you expect from teaching the public about fat people?

Would it look like this?

“Myth: Fat people can’t wipe their butts because they cannot reach their hands to their bottom.
Fact: Fat people can reach their butt with the help of using a stick to get to hard to reach places.

Myth: Food makes people fat.
Fact: Fat people are born fat.*”

I mean I get it that it’s a problem that the media shows what a woman should look like physically, and what beauty should look like, but that’s the media. You can’t let the media determine your lifestyle.

Anyways, I just think that this movement is really silly.

And I find that book title really hilarious: “Black Women in Fat Activism”

I would read it just for the giggles.

*They actually do believe that “food making people fat” is a myth and fat is all about genetics.

Workout Tuesday #1

Dear blog,

I am still sore from yesterday. I feel worse, actually. I think it is because that I slept wrong and I woke up with a bad posture. Like, when I got up, each vertebrae joints cracked back into position and a surge of pain went from my hips down to my legs. But that is not going to prevent me from my workout goal today! (100 push ups, 100 sit ups, and 100 leg lifts.)

I got up with my fatigued body and stretched out all parts of my body. I started with arms. Then cracks from my shoulder joints. I looked up and bent my back. Cracks from my top spine. I twisted left. Cracks. I twisted right. Cracks. Wow, I feel old. So I told myself, “I guess I will do workout later tonight.”

Blog, don’t look at me like some pathetic person…. Yesterday was just… rough…

Anyways, I did my workout after doing house chores, applying to as many jobs as I can, and other things I needed to take care of.

Again, I planned before starting my workouts which was:

  • Push ups – 25 reps
  • Sit ups – 25 reps
  • Leg lifts – 25 reps

That is it. That is one set. So with this planned out, I did four sets of this workout. I am still out of shape, so I couldn’t do this vigorously. At a moderate speed, I was able to finish four sets of this workout, since the goal of the workout was to complete 100 reps for each. With this in mind, I used the website again to help me estimate how much calories I have burnt.

Estimated calories burnt: 360 calories.

Well… Looking at that… I need to re-plan upper body workout day. However, I feel so exhausted…

Blog, I probably need to rethink about the 100 reps plan.
